Applications for the 2021 Incubator Program are now closed. 

Through the Project Zero Incubator, new business ideas and early start-ups that look to operate within the circular economy will have the opportunity to create their business plans, learn business operation fundamentals and entrepreneurial skills, connect with mentors, and develop a pitch for their business idea.

The incubator program will run from April to November 2021. Sessions will take place virtually, roughly every three weeks. During the eight month program, ventures will receive support to launch their business and contribute to a greener economy. The program is free for all successful applicants.

Here is a sample of business categories that could be a good fit for our program: 

  • Upcycling waste materials into new products

  • Products designed with a closed loop and/or waste-free cycle

  • Renewable energy

  • Clean technology that reduces energy or waste 

  • Repair economy

  • Sharing economy 

  • Product as a service models (leasing to reduce waste and extend life of products) 


The top applicants will be invited to participate in the eight month incubator program. Applicants will be notified in late January about their application status. Applications must be received by 4:00 pm on Wednesday, January 6, 2020. If you have any questions or are unsure if your business model would be a good fit for the program, we encourage you to reach out to to inquire ahead of time.


To allow our program to reach more entrepreneurs across Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland the program sessions will be hosted virtually. Sessions will typically take place every three weeks and will run for a full afternoon. Those accepted into the program will be provided with a schedule in advance to allow you to adjust your schedule as needed.


  • Entrepreneur is based on Vancouver Island, the Gulf Islands or the Lower Mainland

  • Entrepreneur is planning to develop organization in one of these regions 

  • Entrepreneur's business is at concept stage or  has made under $500,000 in revenue

Once your application form, resume, and any additional documentation are complete please submit application to with the subject heading "Project Zero Incubator Application 2021." Applications must be received by 4:00 pm on Wednesday, January 6, 2021. Early applications are strongly encouraged.
